National Achievers Congress 2014: A Weekend with the World’s Best

National Achievers Congress 2014: A Weekend with the World’s Best

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending National Achievers Congress 2014 in Singapore. It was held in a really big conference hall in Resorts World Singapore, which accommodated more than 5000 attendees.

If you have never been to an event like this, this could be an event you might want to check out (well, you can decide after reading this post). This event is organized by Success Resources and held over three full-days. Featured speakers include Nick Vujicic, Tom Hopkins, and Brendon Burchard. (see below for the complete list of speakers)

The “inconvenient truth” is that schedules of speakers throughout the three days were not fixed and therefore, to make sure you catch a glimpse of the speaker you want to learn from, you would have to stay throughout the three days.

How was National Achievers Congress like?

I went there with an open -mind, hoping to learn from the best. I would say the three days turned out to be really intense. Some speakers were great and some were average, but most of them had something to sell at the end of their presentation.

This meant that while speakers share their success stories, to know more, you would have to enroll into the workshop they are marketing. The reason being, each speaker is only given around 90 minutes to speak and therefore, they could not share their entire formula with us. Prices of the workshops range in the thousands.

The Urms…

Some ideas presented were really convincing (making money through publishing a book, investing in property, value investing, starting online businesses) – I don’t doubt they work, but often the speakers make it sound so easy. Just by attending their courses, you will be able to achieve financial freedom and become rich. Many fail to mention all the hard work and effort they have invested to get to where they are. They are selling a system which they claim will get you rich if you sign up for the workshop and learn the system.

This can be a little misleading for people who are looking for quick get rich schemes. It does not work this way. At the end of the day, it is still down to whether you are willing to invest time and energy into whatever you are doing to make it work.

It is not all that bad though, there is actually also a tremendous amount of value you can gain from the three days.

The Wow…

During this event, I learnt a lot, and gathered a lot of new insights. No regrets attending the event as I have exposed my mind to much more ideas, ideas that I can develop and build upon. Such events are a really good place to get inspired, network and meet like-minded people.

Should you go?

If you have read all the way till this point, it means you are seriously considering going for this event. Well, my take is, if you have not gone for it before, I recommend going at least once.

Getting your mind exposed to brilliant people will expand your perspective and perhaps spark new inspiration for your next big project!

Just keep in mind these tips when going for the event. Good luck!

Tips to keep in mind when going for the event:

  1. Be prepared that some speeches may sound like a preview.

Some speakers will take this opportunity to pitch their products and upsell their workshops to you; so do not expect this congress to simply be a solid content filled 3 days.
  1. Do your homework before committing to any programs.

Do a quick Google search about the workshop the speaker is selling to check reviews out and make sure you are making an informed decision instead of buying on impulse. Speakers like to make use of the limited seats and herd mentality to get you to rush to sign up for their workshops. Often, you will see people rushing to sign up for the workshops to get the ‘best deal’. Do a quick search to prevent buyers’ regret after spending thousands on a program. A website I found which gave some useful reviews on programs is: http://nomorebsreviews.com.
  1. Usually the best speakers are left for the last day.

The highlight or most popular speaker of the event usually makes his appearance on the last day and last slot. So if you just want to catch the highlight, you can head down on the last day.
  1. Go with an open mind.

Take as many notes as you can, meet as many people as you can, and have fun!
